CALL FOR BEATBOXING ROUTINES

Make history. Tune into one of the biggest sound collaborations ever. Your beats, rhythms and musical sounds could inspire an award-winning short film.

The Smalls Street Sounds, a cool new online event that champions the use of diverse sounds collected by the public in filmmaking, invites YOU to upload your beats and beatboxing routines to their interactive Sound Map.

Drawing inspiration from the sonic landscape of cities across the United States, The Smalls Street Sounds evolves in two stages – a nationwide sound collaboration, followed by a film competition. The goal is to make history with more than 5,000 sound clips uploaded by March 2010.

How can you participate?

During the first phase of The Smalls Street Sounds, you are invited to upload your own mp3 sound recordings. These can be anything from you simulating a string instrument to an entire musical track you have produced or simply a recording of something in your local neighborhood.

Uploaded sounds are made available to other users, searchable via a new interactive Sound Map application, specifically designed for you to be able to listen to and upload sounds from around the U.S.

Why should you upload your beats and beatboxing routines?

• Along with becoming part of a historic sound collaboration, everybody who uploads sounds to the Sound Map enters a draw for a free iPod touch.
• During the second phase of The Smalls Street Sounds, filmmakers will be challenged to create a short film inspired by audio clips available in the Sound Map. All audio used must be credited. If your beats and beatboxing routines are used in a winning film, you will receive free marketing and PR for your name and your work as a contributor to that film.
• Winning films will be screened during this year’s International Beatbox Convention, held at the end of July 2010. If your beats and beatboxing routines are used in a winning film they will be playing during this event.

NOTE: Your chances are related directly to the pool of sounds, so the more sounds, beats and beatboxing routines you upload the greater your chance of your work being noticed and used in a film.
