After an half-hour journey on the train with Oni, we ended up at Bristol Temple Meads station looking for beatboxers! Walking past the station gates and heading for outside we saw someone beatboxing and we were like, "Who is that? Do we know him?" So we decided to see who it was and it turned out to be Taak! We walked outside looking for other beatboxers and Soundwave turned up with his bag of mystery and we waited outside for about 20 mins chatting and asking the usual questions such as "How did you start?" and "How long have you been beatboxing?" until yasSon turned up with his didgeridoo and 6ft Mohawk!
We decided to walk into the centre of town to meet up with Banardo and his mate. On the way yasSon and I caught up on things from the past year and Soundwave, Taak and Oni chatted behind us. We ended up under this strange structure with sails on it in the centre of town when Soundwave open his bag and out came this crazy looking amp with endless effects and mucho volume! He turned on the mic and busted some beats then I had a go followed by yasSon and Taak.
We were given strange looks from passers by apart from one guy waiting for a bus who seemed to really enjoy it! We carried on until the heavens opened and then we had to scarper under a nearby tree where we met Banardo. (What was Banardo doing under the tree...Ed?) The rain really started pouring. It must have been the Bristol monsoon season so we decided to run down to the sheltered Waterfront to carry on the jam. We ended up basically running through Bristol in the pouring rain nearly getting hit by endless cars and even a double decker bus!
So we ended up at the Waterfront where Soundwave got out his amp again and started busting some wicked beats with some crazy effects while me and yasSon chatted. We were outside a load of bars so therefore we got funny looks off some of the owners and especially passers by, apart from a few people who looked generally interested. After a half hour or so I decided to have a go on the amp and showed some beats followed by yasSon with some crazy skills! We decided to have a nice jam before yasSon had to flee for his gig so we gathered in a jam style circle while Oni filmed in very Splinter style! The jam was wicked full of beats, crazy sound effects, sick scratches and the legendary echoes!
After the jam finished we had to go catch the train along with Soundwave so we said our goodbyes, shared a few manly hugs, and exchanged numbers, then off we went running again this time to catch a train! Overall the day was very enjoyable and with some great tips and awesome beats. The rain wasn’t really a problem after all, apart from making yasSon’s cold worse and the rest of us getting one as well!
