Whether you are just learning to beatbox, or already a pro, here are four easy fillers you can throw into your beats to take them to the next level!
(Check these links out if you need a refresher on our beat notation system or the 1E&A counting system.)
Filler 1
B | k | t | k |
1 | e | & | a |
B = Basic Lip Kick - T = Basic Hi-Hat - K = any click or k snare you want 🙂
Audio example and use in a beat:
Filler 2
ch | k | ch | |
1 | e | & | a |
Ch = Simple Ch Shaker - K = K Rimshot
As you can see, this one would take place after a downbeat, thus the space on the 1 (indicated in red).
Audio example and use in a beat:
Filler 3
t | k | ts | - | t | |||
1 | E | & | A | 2 | E | & | A |
Ts = Basic Hi-Hat (elongated) - T = Basic Hi-Hat K = Outward K Snare (soft)
As you can see, this one would take place after a downbeat, thus the space on the 1 (indicated in red).
Audio example and use in a beat:
Filler 4
t | t | |
1 | 2 | 3 |
T = Basic Hi-Hat
As you can see, this one would take place after a downbeat, thus the space on the 1 (indicated in red).
This is extremely simple, and is actually just a triplet. In this case, the kick and snare still happen at the same tempo (even though the hi-hats change speeds in between).
