The 3rd American Beatbox Championships was held in New York City on August 12th at Le Poisson Rouge.

Organised by the World Beatbox Association (WBA), the champs brought America’s top 16 beatboxers who battled it out live on stage. Last year’s winner, J-Flo of Long Island, NY was back to defend his title as champion.He faced competition from:

Also performing at the event were Grammy-winning singer Maya Azucena, America’s Got Talent finalist Butterscotch, two-time Canadian Beatbox Champion and 2012 finalist of Canada’s Got Talent KRNFX, Jessica Kaya, Range Da Messenga, Eternia, Akim Funk Buddha, and Bajah of Bajah & the Dry Eye Crew. Legendary beatbox master Rahzel held down the judges table.

The fun kicked off Saturday, August 11th with the opening night Open Mic event at Littlefield in Brooklyn featuring J-Flo, Three Man ILL, Word of Mouf, and Fresh Baam Bada.

It was $25 admission to the championship event on Saturday or $35 for a weekend pass.
