The 5th Annual American Beatbox Championships featured one of the world’s best beatboxers Reeps One as a co-headliner with Netherlands champion Beatboxer B Art along side the legend Michael Winslow for the nation’s largest beatboxing competition. The weekend long event took place October 10th - 12th (1v1 battles on the 12th) and brought together beatboxers from around the world to participate in film screenings, workshops, panels, showcases, a visual art exhibit, and battle competitions.
The grand final of the competition was held at Webster Hall’s Marlin ballroom on Sunday, October 12th hosted by Hasan Salaam and Patrick Cucuta. Reeps One co-headlined the weekend with legendary vocalist Michael Winslow. In addition to this year’s music showcases the event featured its visual arts exhibit Graphic Vocals at TBA Brooklyn featuring the visual art of Reeps One.
The American Beatbox Championships selected the remaining top 8 with qualifying battles at Lot45 in Brooklyn on it’s opening night, Friday October 10th from 9pm till 2am. It also held it’s first annual 2 vs 2 team battles and loopstation battles at Brooklyn Bazaar on the 11th hosted by Canadian beatboxer Balu Ballistic and BbK at 7pm.
