Dry Kick | Outward D Kick

The dry kick is an alternative from making a kick drum with your lips and sounds very realistic when made into a mic at close range. It is also a component in making multiple kick drums in quick succession.

Standard Beatbox Notation (SBN)

{ d }

How it's done

  1. Say 'dog'
  2. Now say 'd' but try not to say 'duh' - try to keep just the very beginning of the d sound.
  3. To make the sound louder, flick the tip of your tongue down over the ridge above your front top teeth.

This is a very quiet sound, but with practice, you'll be able to do it a little louder.
