At the time I am writing this post, I have bronchitis 🙁

Does beatboxing while sick hurt you physicially? Or should I simply just power through?

Feel better man! And yes, doing any kind of strenuous vocal activity can hurt your vocal chords, and not just when you’re sick (though tbh you’re likely more susceptible to damage when your throat hurts). Many vocalists will not yell on principle because every little bit of voice preservation counts.

I try to give beatboxing a break when I’m ill, I’m not sure if it has any lasting effects, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. I don’t use much throat stuff, but I’ve tried to when I’m ill, and it’s always been really uncomfortable/painful.

To be on the safe side, I’d say stray away from beatboxing (or just throat basses) until you feel better. Get well soon 🙂

Tryin to make a change :-\

Beatboxing while being sick is not generally great moment for me. Especially when i get motivated and wanting to perform freely.

I can beatbox fine, however its not like I’m at my best potential when I’m not 100% healthy with the snuffles, throat weirdness. and the infinite coughs that want to shoot it out every time.

I see it as a curse and it ruins something you love so much.

Yea, I have the same view AreLo! Whenever I get a burst of inspiration, the next day I wake up with a soar throat and fever. I got sick over Christmas break and feel like I’ve lost my power and skill all of a sudden, I hate it.

    Crosswalks fear me.
