Hey guys, just wanted to ask for some advice. I’ve been playing around with this new beat for the last few days, and I wanted to ask a few things.

-what do you think of the beat?

    -is it too simple?

-anything you’d change or add to make it better?

    Thanks

Yo! Welcome to the beatbox fam! Took me a while to get the beat downloaded lmao.

I liked the main melody you introduced in the beginning – I think you could turn it into a really cool drop. The routine felt like it was just an intro – you built up solid tension until you decided to take it slow again.

If you’re looking to keep the drop slow at the 50 second mark – I’d use less bass-heavy sounds in the buildup and more higher pitch sounds (reintroducing parts of the melody) and at the drop, introduce all your heavy-hitting bass sounds. Instead of a single vocalized lip oscillation (Gene’s thingy), you can do repeated ones or something like that.

Make sure your drop hits hard and end you end strong!

Thanks for the advice Jon. So you think I should leave the lip bass to the drop, and make the drop more fast paced? Do you think I should add more technicality to the drop, or just go into double time?

Of course man! Hoping to see more beatbox review submissions here :). If you have a signature sound, I’d say try to use it sparingly in the drop and definitely try going double time.

Be sure to use contrasting elements to juxtapose your sounds for them to hit much stronger. For example, take a pause right before a super technical combo.

Villain uses the suckerpunch thud sound and follows up with a hollow clop because suckerpunch thud activates the subwoofers and the higher hollow clop hits so much harder afterwards.

    Can’t wait to see v2!
