Oh boy… if you’ve been to a few events you know exactly what I’m talking about. I’ve been to a a couple events and any time I see a new beatboxer that I’ve never before, I just feel really awkward and confused on how to approach them. All people are different, and I don’t want to come off on the wrong note with anyone. Most of the battle scene is older than I am and knows each other pretty well so when arrive to an event I’m lost in the crowd. I’m really bad at just straight up approaching a person and starting to jam, it feels so unnatural and I want to get better! Tips??

I think this is more of a self-improvement kind of thing, but I agree. It could be difficult for new guys to mingle – I had a difficult time at first too. But the cool thing about our community is that most of us are really chill and laid back – and beatboxing draws us all together.
I believe it’s the host and organizer’s jobs to make sure that everyone feels welcome. But other than that, the best way to go about meeting new beatboxers is joining a cypher circle or just jamming out.!
