A beat-rhymer is a person who can beatbox and rap at the same time. This year La MaMa recognizes beat-rhyming as t a vocal artform all its own by presenting the first beat-rhyme battle.

Documentary about French beatboxer and spoken word artist Princeps.
- 8PM - A Tribute to Steve Ben Israel
Baba Israel and Playback NYC will present an evening of beatboxing, theatre, spoken word, and music in tribute to Steve Ben Israel. Playback NYC will improvise on the theme of Steve’s life as an an international artist, activist, and cultural figure for over 50 years. Featured Performers include Jason Linder, Daniel Freedman, Yako 440, Kid Lucky, Wiseguy and Gaston, Steve Dalachinsky and Flaco Navaja. This night will also mark the launch of Baba Israel’s new theatre project about his father supported by Theatre in The Mill (UK), Unfinished Business (UK), La MaMa and Culturehub.
Followed by an Open Mic.
